IR Global Ranking. One of the Companies with the Best Corporate Governance in Latin America

MASISA was distinguished for being one of the three best corporate governance companies in Latin America from the ranking made by the US financial and investor relations consultant MZ Consult. This recognition was awarded to MASISA in the 2008 version of the “IR Global Ranking” (Investor Relations Global Ranking) and concerned the Company’s standards and internal controls that assure responsible and transparent business management. This ranking measures factors like: management; board of directors; rights of minority shareholders; procedure and control meetings with shareholders; among other policies.

Opportunities for the Majority. One of the 10 Companies that Promote Sustainable Business Models

MASISA was distinguished as one of the 10 companies in Latin America and the Caribbean that promote sustainable business models to improve the quality of life of societies. The index was drawn up by the “Opportunities for the Majority” office of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, and is part of the program called “Opportunities for the Majority.” The initiative aims to rank companies on their commitment to and performance with sustainable development on issues like climate change, ecoefficiency, inclusive business and work with the community.

Sustainability Model: MASISA Brasil was chosen as one of the 20 companies as a model on sustainability by the “Exame de Sustentabilidad 2008” guide.

Sustainability Diagnosis: The Brazilian Foundation for Sustainable Development distinguished MASISA Brasil as an example company on sustainable management.

Entre Ríos Exporter: For the fourth consecutive year, MASISA Argentina received the award from the Entre Ríos Governor’s Office in the category of the highest export volume.

Durango Quality State Award 2008: MASISA Mexico received an award from the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA) for the total quality practices and efforts made to promote them as models to be followed by the community.

Socially Responsible Process Industry: MASISA Chile received an award at the international show Expoquim 2008 for the Company’s business management and its good community relations, commitment to climate change, quality management and work safety.

Best Annual Report 2007 on Corporate Governance: MASISA received an award at the 13th Annual Report Competition of Chilean Corporations, organized by Gestión magazine and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Best Sustainability Report 2007: MASISA received an award from Acción RSE in the category of Best Global Description of the Company and Integral Management of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Best Corporate Reputation: MASISA was distinguished as one of the 33 companies in Chile with the best corporate reputation, based on the ranking made by Reputation Institute jointly with the Catholic University and Qué Pasa magazine. The Company obtained this ranking in 2008 after different stakeholders made known their insights, experiences and expectations in regard to MASISA.

Argentine Export Award: Prensa Económica magazine with the sponsorship of Argentina’s Ministries of Economy and Foreign Affairs awarded the Company the “Argentine Export Prize” for the ninth year running.

Planeta Casa Award: MASISA Nature made by MASISA Brasil received an award in the product category from Casa Claudia magazine. This is an award for the best initiatives focused on sustainability in six categories: products, interior design, construction materials, architectural projects, real estate undertakings and social action.

Bolívar State Quality Award: MASISA VVenezuela won an award in the fourth version of the Large Company category. This is an award for public and private manufacturing and service companies that stand out for innovation, quality, competitiveness and productivity as a result of the continuous improvement of their processes.

Corporate Social Responsibility: MASISA Argentina received an award from Apertura magazine as one of the 50 most important companies regarding the development of Corporate Social Responsibility action, highlighting the company’s work in the health, education and environmental areas.

Paraná Management Quality Award: This award received by MASISA Brazil is given to organizations in the state of Paraná (southern Brazil) that stand out for their quality, productivity and competitiveness. Export Quality Award 2008: MASISA Brasil was awarded this prize by Revista da Madeira.

Corporate Citizenship Award: MASISA Argentina received an award in the Environment category from the American Chamber of Commerce in Argentina (AMCHAM) for its “Nature Reserves” program, aimed at preserving nature on private lands.

Social Seal 2007: MASISA Brasil received an award in the Gold Category. This award certifies companies that meet all the internal, external and fiscal indicators defined in the Social Seal Program of the city of Ponta Grossa.

Fastest Growing Supplier 2008: MASISA Chile received this award from MTS.

Rainforest Alliance “Precursor de Prácticas Sustentables” (“Corporate Sustainable Standard-Setter”). This is a business strategy based on the following entrepreneurial practices that have made MASISA the winner of this award: sustainable development, dialogues with the communities, commitment with the environment, ethical and responsible businesses, development of human capital and businesses that improve the quality of life of people.

IR Global Ranking. One of the companies that has the best Corporate Government within Latin America. MASISA was acknowledged for having one of the best entrepreneurial corporate governments in Latin America, resulting from the ranking carried out by the by the US financial consulting that also deals with investors, MZ Consult. This recognition to MASISA’s corporate government was delivered within the framework of 2007 version of the “IR Global Ranking” (Global Ranking of Relations with Investors) and made reference to the good company practices adopted by MASISA. These practices are based in structured processes, principles of individual and corporate principles, by-laws, and the definition of instances and independent and supplementary channels, such as the Shareholders’ Meeting, the Board of Directors and the Board of Directors’ Committees (Audit, Directors, Compensation and Disclosure Committees). Jointly, these practices contribute towards the sustainable development of the company, its collaborators and society, as a whole.

Top Móbile. MASISA Brazil was awarded for the second consecutive year, the award in the category of Suppliers of the Furniture Industry as the manufacturer of MDF wood board most recognized in Brasil.

Empresa Familiarmente Responsable (Familiarly Responsible Company). MASISA Mexico received this award granted by the Labor and Social Security Secretariat of Durango (STPS). It additionally received the award for the 2007 Ecological Merit (Mérito Ecológico 2007) delivered by the Natural Resources and the Environment Secretariat of Durango, Mexico.

Best of the Best in Germany. Bausch Decor, manufacturer of decorative papers, received the Interzum Best of the BestAward, with the MASISA nature wood board, produced in the MASISA Brazil factory, in Ponta Grossa. The product is among the eight most innovative, establishing MASISA as the first company in the world in manufacturing wood boards with the Syncrone Pore Technology for furniture, which assures the perfect synchronicity between the design and the wood grains.

Premio Bravo de Negocios (Bravo Business Award). Enrique Cibié, Chief Executive Officer of MASISA was elected as the best Chief Executive Officer of the year in Latin America for a company having up to US$1,000 million annually in sales. The Category was Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year. Latin Trade Magazine.

One of the best companies in which to work. MASISA Argentina received this award from the Magazine Apertura.

Instituto Argentino de Normalización y Certificación (Argentinean Normalization and Certification Institute). MASISA Argentina has the pride of being one of the few companies in Argentina that has been certified for its Integrated Management System, which considers objectives relative to Quality, Safety and Occupational Health and the Environment.

Premio Paranaense de Calidad en Gestión (PPQG, Parana Award for Quality in Management). MASISA Brazil received the distinction granted by the Brazilian Institute of Quality and Productivity.

Premio Innovación Social 2007 (2007 Social Innovation Award). This award is granted by EUREKA, civil non-profit association, which distinguishes the Easy Assembly Project of MASISA Venezuela. This contest has the objective of recognizing initiatives of individuals, organizations and entrepreneurial foundations focused on producing positive modifications to the different problems suffered by society. The MASISA Proyecto Armefácil (MASISA Easy Assembly) was granted the award in the category Entrepreneurial Foundations, applied to the Revenue Generation line.

Award for Exports. Masisa Chile received the award “Excelencia Exportadora de Manufacturas y Servicios” (Exporting Excellence in Manufacturing and Services) by the Asociación de Exportadores de Manufactura (ASEXMA, Association of Manufacturing Exporters).

WWF “Líderes por un planeta vivo” (“Leaders for a Living Planet”) This award, granted for the first time in Chile, recognized MASISA for its commitment with the community and for strengthening and intensifying the FSC certification system and for its commitment on identifying the high value forests in order to preserve the existing ones within its patrimony and thus create a portfolio of protected areas.

Exports Award. MASISA Argentina, leader in exports for the seventh consecutive year. Granted by the Ministries of the Economy and Foreign Affairs, Argentina.

Environmental Accountability Fritz Müller Award. MASISA Rio Negrinho, Brasil. Gobierno del Estado de Santa Catarina y Fundación para el Ambiente (FATMA) (Government of the State of Santa Catarina and the Foundation for the Environment).
