HR-100
WHAT IS IT?
It’s a particle board made of Pine wood, joined by phenolic adhesive, which gives it waterproof characteristics. Its difference with other particle boards is that it’s darker than a standard board.
¿WHICH ARE ITS MORE COMMON USES?
Given Masisa HR-100’s great mechanical and waterproof properties, it’s main uses are exterior coating, partitions in humid areas, base covers for ceilings and floors. In the furniture area is used as base cover for kitchen and bathroom furniture, where there are high humidity contents and possibility of direct contact with water.
BEFORE WORKING WITH HR-100, PLEASE CONSIDER:
Joints of expansion:
Masisa HR-100 must be install leaving joints of expansion in the four sides of the board, leaving a 5mm space between them and 6mm when next to other structures. This joints might be left at sight, cover them with cover junctions or with any kind of filling that dries elastic. You mustn’t fill it with rigid material of with one that hardens once applied.
Spacing between supports:
To manage an addecuated solution for the spacing between supports, you must consider the resistance to flexion and the requirements that the supports are put under.
Spacing between fixations:
The fixations, nails or screws, must be distanced at the most 50cm one from another in the board’s interior and 30cm in the perimeter.
Waterproofness:
Masisa HR-100 is defined as waterproof material after fulfilling the test V-100 (DIN Nº 68763). This test consist in fulfilling a minimal resistance to traction of 1,5Kg/cm2, after the simples have been submerged in water at 100ºC, making them boil for 2 hours.
Coverings to apply:
It’s possible to apply any kind of paint or covering that could be used of solid wood over Masisa HR-100, even continous or texture coverings. Do not use very diluted paint or adhesives, is reccomended to apply, previously, a thin acrilic latex hand without diluting.
Dimensional Stability:
Due to Masisa HR-100 higroscopyness in compare to its wood composition, which means that its humidity varies according to the humidity in the room. This characteristic gives as a result a minimal dimention variation in the board’s height and wide, as it catches of losses humidty from the room.
